Hempcrete

Located in the Cambridgeshire countryside, Russell House is a single-storey eco‑home built using hempcrete, renowned for its thermal efficiency and natural insulation properties.

Its linear, low-profile design blends seamlessly with the landscape, with materiality and form chosen to reflect calm and simplicity.

English Brothers played a central role, supplying the hemp-based external shell and working alongside the client to ensure efficient assembly and high performance. The exterior combines soft red brickwork with vertical timber cladding, giving the home warmth, texture, and visual rhythm.

Generous glazing frames the surroundings and fills the interior with natural light, while details remain minimal and considered throughout – creating spaces that feel grounded, quiet, and purposeful.
