Hempcrete Casting

Hempcrete

Hempcrete casting is a sustainable building technique that combines hemp shiv with lime binder to create natural, breathable insulation. English Brothers use this method as part of their eco building offering – ideal for garden rooms, extensions and low-impact self-build homes.

Hempcrete helps regulate temperature and humidity, making interiors feel comfortable all year round. It is non-toxic, breathable, and naturally resistant to mould and moisture – without the need for chemical additives. Once set, it forms a solid yet flexible wall structure with excellent thermal performance.

Used alongside a timber or SIP frame, hempcrete can be cast in-situ using shuttering and tamping methods. It’s a modern method with traditional roots – well-suited to projects that prioritise sustainability, comfort and long-term performance.
